Artist statement
Work born from a desire to tell stories. Stories that emerge from the imperfections of life, the strength of authenticity, and the value of everyday, small details. My name is Meral de Blécourt, and I work with a wide range of materials such as textiles, wood, metal, and glass. I enjoy giving new life to discarded objects. My interest extends beyond a single medium; I explore an endless range of techniques, both analog and digital.
I am drawn to the play between textures and contrasts, always searching for a balance between rawness and aesthetics. I consciously choose authenticity over perfection. It is within that tension that my stories arise, shaped by material and composition.
I find inspiration in surrealism, nature, light, and the seemingly ordinary moments that often hold deeper meaning. My work connects opposites and lets them tell a new story together. A story that resonates and invites reflection.
